World Book Day
I'd done Mothers' Day and Fathers' Day
so thought I'd got this sussed,
it was all about doing nice things
for those that you loved,
doing that bit extra
to show how much you cared.
So, when World Book Day came around
I thought I was prepared.
I could not select just one
and so, ahead of time,
I picked out all my favourite books
and put them in a line.
I got up early on Book Day
and made breakfast in bed
for The Very Hungry Caterpillar,
I gave him toast and eggs.
I took some honey for Winnie the Pooh
and carrots for Peter Rabbit,
some porridge for Harry Potter
and a second breakfast for The Hobbit.
Once that was done and cleared away,
I made some cups of tea
for The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe,
they were all so thirsty.
I bought flowers for The Famous Five
to brighten up their day.
I played a game with Alice,
she chose- we did croquet.
I went for a walk with The BFG
and also The Cat in the Hat.
I made a card for The Gruffalo
and think he appreciated that.
In fact, I hope I showed my books
how much I love and need them
but it was such hard work, I think,
next year, I'll just sit and read them.
so thought I'd got this sussed,
