When the Going Gets Tough
Walk through shadows, walk through light
Hear the songs the wild birds write
Take my hand and hold on tight
We’ll walk this path together
Rest awhile and feel the breeze
Touch the boughs of timeworn trees
Know there’s sweetness hummed by bees
And hold my hand forever
Lift your head when it’s been bowed
Spot the castle in the clouds
Dare to speak your dreams out loud
And hold my hand forever
Hear the songs the wild birds write
Take my hand and hold on tight
We’ll walk this path together
Rest awhile and feel the breeze
Touch the boughs of timeworn trees
Know there’s sweetness hummed by bees
And hold my hand forever
Lift your head when it’s been bowed
Spot the castle in the clouds
Dare to speak your dreams out loud
And hold my hand forever

About the Writer
Jennifer Thomas
Jennifer is a Canadian writer and editor. She is the co-writer of the Invisible Things zine, a collection of poems about the invisible creatures (gnomes, imps, and so on) who inhabit the world of modern kids and get into no end of mischief. Jennifer comes up with her best ideas for poems while she’s walking her dog, and as a result her dog gets lots of walks. This makes her dog very happy.
