When Bill and Grace Went Into Space For A Bit Of Peace And Quiet
Bill and Grace went into space
for a bit of peace and quiet.
They’d never been in space before,
and thought they ought to try it.
Grace moved their two most comfy chairs
into the garden shed.
Bill packed a case for himself and Grace
and off to space they sped.
They expected space to be a roomy place
-all quiet, clean, uncluttered –
They’d never have guessed it would be such a mess.
‘Tut tut!’ Bill and Grace both muttered.
There was space debris as far as the eye could see
Bill was cross, but Grace was crosser.
There were bits of Apollo, bits of Sputnik
and bits of flying saucer.
Bill sighed, Grace cried, both were goggle-eyed
at these astronomical misdemeanours.
And devoid of mirth, they returned to earth
and came back with a vacuum cleaner.
for a bit of peace and quiet.
