What the City Pigeon Hears
night falling
the easing of brickwork
the settling of slates
the rumble of trains
formation of stalactites
under the arches
the whisper of feathers
the stiffening of trees
a phone ringing in an empty office
earth worms tunnelling
splish of water in the fountains
and the rats in their thousands
squeaking of sewerage
deep underground
the easing of brickwork
the settling of slates
the rumble of trains
formation of stalactites
under the arches
the whisper of feathers
the stiffening of trees
a phone ringing in an empty office
earth worms tunnelling
splish of water in the fountains
and the rats in their thousands
squeaking of sewerage
deep underground
