The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Wave

Benevolent, on summer days,
sandcastle-moat-maker,
sandwich-splasher,
surfboard-carrier,
tiny-toes-tickler,
rock-pool-filler,
shell-bringer,
fun-giver.

Malevolent, on stormy days,
rearing like a startled horse,
head curved to strike
like a hooded snake,
boat-splinterer,
bone-crusher,
ship-wrecker,
cliff-eroder.
