Waste of Time
I watched a snail in a race with another, bigger snail.
I thought I’d cheer the little one on.
I sort of wish I hadn’t; I was standing there for hours.
I didn't think the race would take so long.
The little snail, determined, kept its lead for quite some time
then it paused to munch a leaf in mid-decay.
I realised then that maybe it was not a race at all
and the snails were both just going the same way.
