Utah Surprise
I didn’t want to leave home
I really didn’t care
about vacation elsewhere
with dusty paths and air.
But Utah you surprised me
with colors never seen
unfolding and unrolling
in places never been
with giant rocks and spires
with petrified sand dunes
with arches and with deserts
with ancient native ruins
with everything you’ve shown me
I never even knew
I’m happy that my shoes are red
with dusty, sandy you.
I really didn’t care
about vacation elsewhere
with dusty paths and air.
But Utah you surprised me
with colors never seen
unfolding and unrolling
in places never been
with giant rocks and spires
with petrified sand dunes
with arches and with deserts
with ancient native ruins
with everything you’ve shown me
I never even knew
I’m happy that my shoes are red
with dusty, sandy you.
