The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Upset, Sad and Blue

I feel squishy,
like the crushed blueberry
on the bottom of my shoe.

I feel empty,
like the deflated balloon
in the corner of my room.

I feel crinkly,
like the candy wrapper
I threw away at school.

I feel teary,
bleary, lonely and dreary,
upset, sad, and blue.

My very best friend
moved far, far away,
and I don’t know what I’ll do.
