Two Mums
starts questions from my friends…
So who does mum-stuff? (And who pretends
to brush your hair?) Who smells like flowers?
Who takes bubble baths not showers?
Who drags you sloooowly through the shop?
Which mum could chat to mine nonstop?
Who wobbles when they kick a ball?
Who bakes? (Which one can’t cook at all?!)
Who’d stop you walking under ladders?
(Which mum thinks that Batman’s bad-ass?)
Who lipstick-kisses? (Who grandly handshakes?)
Who makes Sunday morning pancakes?
Who could scare a pirate crew?
Who d’you tell deep secrets to?
Which mum gives a better hug?
(I want a hug right now.) I shrug.
They like this game of Dad v. Mum
so is it mean to say it’s dumb?
To cover my embarrassed ummms,
I’ve made a song about my mums.
It’s catchy! Even my teacher hums…
Neither, neither, neither! Either, for a fiver?
They work together like two thumbs,
two eyes, two ears—why not two mums?
So who does mum-stuff? (And who pretends
to brush your hair?) Who smells like flowers?
Who takes bubble baths not showers?
Who drags you sloooowly through the shop?
Which mum could chat to mine nonstop?
Who wobbles when they kick a ball?
Who bakes? (Which one can’t cook at all?!)
Who’d stop you walking under ladders?
(Which mum thinks that Batman’s bad-ass?)
Who lipstick-kisses? (Who grandly handshakes?)
Who makes Sunday morning pancakes?

They work together like two thumbs,
two eyes, two ears—why not two mums?
