The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Track(tor)

Our feet disappear
In the mud encrusted tracks
Rough
Raised
Low
Hollow
Placing hand against hand we cannot span its width
Made by a machine of power and purpose
Relentlessly resilient, endless toil
Through rain and baking sun
Hardy
Rusted
Loved
Needed
It remains … It always remains ...
Wide and wonderous, forever stamping its presence on the earth.
