Tick Tock

I’ve come to the conclusion
that time is not my friend.
Whenever I am having fun
the clock says, ‘Time to end.’

Yet other times, when I am bored
as bored as bored can be
that’s when time slows right down
taunting, haunting me.

My teacher says, ‘Time to play’
and lunchtime whizzes by.
Then after lunch, it’s Maths again
Time sheds its wings; why fly?

The weekends seem to go so fast
with friends and fam and sport.
But school weeks drag on and on
weighed down with no support.

The clock’s hands seem to swim
in molasses, even honey
whenever I am bored or lost,
confused or just feel funny.

However, when I’m feeling grand,
excited, great, sublime
that’s when the hands speed up
and dance ‘round in double time!
