There's a Zoo in my Fridge
My kitchen is a bit strange,
for if you tiptoe and sneak
up to the fridge,
open it a smidge
and have a little peek,
pull the door a little more,
to see what awaits,
there's something more exciting
than just wrapped up bowls and plates.
You will be surprised,
you won't believe your eyes,
for amongst the veg and snacks and pies,
a secret hides
in plain sight yet disguised,
and you will see it too.
So be prepared,
there's no need to be scared,
in my fridge is a mini zoo!
There are lions in the sausages,
capybaras in the cheese,
bears in the honey pot,
pandas in the peas.
There are lemurs in the lettuce,
in the milk the hippos splutter,
penguins in the fish fingers
and elephants in the butter!
Pull up a seat,
but watch what you eat,
for they've gotten into it all;
the jam and bread,
and worst yet I dread
is the salad the creepies crawl!
I'm not sure how they got there
or how long they plan to stay,
but one thing's for sure,
they do not bore,
we could watch them all night and day.
for if you tiptoe and sneak
up to the fridge,
open it a smidge
and have a little peek,
pull the door a little more,
to see what awaits,
there's something more exciting
than just wrapped up bowls and plates.
You will be surprised,
you won't believe your eyes,
for amongst the veg and snacks and pies,
a secret hides
in plain sight yet disguised,
and you will see it too.
So be prepared,
there's no need to be scared,
in my fridge is a mini zoo!
There are lions in the sausages,
capybaras in the cheese,
bears in the honey pot,
pandas in the peas.
There are lemurs in the lettuce,
in the milk the hippos splutter,
penguins in the fish fingers
and elephants in the butter!
Pull up a seat,
but watch what you eat,
for they've gotten into it all;
the jam and bread,
and worst yet I dread
is the salad the creepies crawl!
I'm not sure how they got there
or how long they plan to stay,
but one thing's for sure,
they do not bore,
we could watch them all night and day.

About the Writer
Jacoby Crane
Jacoby is an eccentric artist living in Derbyshire. They spend their time baking, making peculiar things, doodling doodles and writing oddities, currently they're focusing on poetry and working on a children's fantasy novel called Lumi. Jacoby's inspiration mostly comes from their unusual dreams and the weirdly wonderful things their kids quote, but their muse comes in the forms of Neil Gaiman and Chris Riddell.
