The Song of the Pirate Tree
I’m a tree, I’m a tree
in a forest by the sea
and I bend where the four winds blow.
But here comes a chap
with a skull upon his cap
and a very big axe. Oh no!
Down
I
go…
I’m a tree, I’m a tree,
I am floating on the sea
on a pirate ship - yo ho!
I’m a mast, tall and proud,
but Avast! I hear the sound
of the guns of the navy! Oh no!
Down
I
go…
I’m a tree, I’m a tree
at the bottom of the sea
but it’s not so bad, you know.
I play snap with a shark,
while a mussel hugs my bark,
and a clownfish tickles through my toes.
Yo
Ho
Ho!
in a forest by the sea
and I bend where the four winds blow.
But here comes a chap
with a skull upon his cap
and a very big axe. Oh no!
Down
I
go…
I’m a tree, I’m a tree,
I am floating on the sea
on a pirate ship - yo ho!
I’m a mast, tall and proud,
but Avast! I hear the sound
of the guns of the navy! Oh no!
Down
I
go…
I’m a tree, I’m a tree
at the bottom of the sea
but it’s not so bad, you know.
I play snap with a shark,
while a mussel hugs my bark,
and a clownfish tickles through my toes.
Yo
Ho
Ho!

About the Writer
Nina Parmenter
Nina lives in the Wiltshire Countryside and writes poetry for humans of all ages. Her children’s poetry has previously appeared here and in Better Than Starbucks, and her poetic offerings for adults can be found scattered through journals and books of all descriptions. Some of her flightier poems have unfortunately escaped, and she hopes to round these up from the flight deck of the Dirigible Balloon.
