The Runaway Bean
The runaway bean
Created a scene
As he scarpered away from my plate
An elite-runner bean
In a quick flash of green
He vaulted our garden gate
Put off by the blade
With which lunch I made
Having witnessed the poor eggs get beaten
This bean took his chance
He’d not danced his last dance
And legged it before getting eaten
Created a scene
As he scarpered away from my plate
An elite-runner bean
In a quick flash of green
He vaulted our garden gate
Put off by the blade
With which lunch I made
Having witnessed the poor eggs get beaten
This bean took his chance
He’d not danced his last dance
And legged it before getting eaten

Tom is a barrister who likes to escape from his busy day job by writing songs and poetry for (and with) his two young boys. His poems focus on anything that can capture his boys’ imagination.
