The Picky Eater

I like pickled ice cream,
I like cabbage jam,
I like deep fried yogurt,
And custard with sliced ham.

I like slimy bacon,
Fried onions in my tea,
Chargrilled strawberry curry,
And cheese on muesli.

I’m a picky eater,
I’m choosy what I eat,
Dinner, breakfast, supper, tea,
And even for a treat.

I like oak-smoked cornflakes,
I like hardboiled Jelly,
I like crispy Lemonade,
That crackles in my belly.

I like lots of different things,
But what I like the most,
Is apple pie in aspic,
And par-boiled tripe on toast.

About the Writer

Graham Cawser

Graham loves children’s literature and enjoys writing and drawing. He was raised in rural Staffordshire, and that was where his imaginings first saw the light of day. He says "Visiting schools and writing poetry for children is a treasured joy. Children’s reactions to pictures and rhyme is magical, and nothing beats watching a child’s face when they realize they can write and illustrate their own stories." His first book of children’s poetry, Wizards Witches and Magical Glitches, is now available.
