The Blast Off Into Space, Gonna Leave The Human Race Blues

Last night I had a fight with my mum and dad.
They said, “You’re so lazy! You’re so bad!”
Well I’m gonna show them both a thing or two!
Yeah I’m really gonna show them a thing or two!
I got the blast off into space,
gonna leave the human race… blues.

I ran into my bedroom, I was feeling sore.
I punched the bed, I stamped my feet, I slammed the door.
I screamed, ‘I’m gonna show you both a thing or two!’
Yeah I’m really gonna show them a thing or two!
I got the blast off into space,
gonna leave the human race… blues.

Well I opened my window, I looked up to the stars
I fired up my engines and I headed to Mars!
I yelled, ‘Boy I’m gonna show you both a thing or two!’
Yeah I’m really gonna show them a thing or two.
I got the blast off into space,
gonna leave the human race… blues.

After five light years, I headed back to earth,
Back to my mum and dad, the place of my birth.
And sure enough they’d both learned a thing or two.
Yeah my mum and dad had really learned a thing or two
about the blast off into space,
gonna leave the human race… blues.

Note from Stewart: This is a ‘talking blues’ but of course you can sing it you want!
