Tell Me, Oak Tree, What Do You Know?
I know
the smell of the coming snowstorm
blanketing my skeleton branches
I know
the hidey holes stashed with acorns
for squirrels’ late winter snack
I know
the chickadees sing chickadee-dee-dee
while juncos respond chip, chip, chip
I know
when the crocuses burst
through the soil announcing spring
the smell of the coming snowstorm
blanketing my skeleton branches
I know
the hidey holes stashed with acorns
for squirrels’ late winter snack
I know
the chickadees sing chickadee-dee-dee
while juncos respond chip, chip, chip
I know
when the crocuses burst
through the soil announcing spring
