The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Tap Tap Tuesday

Listen to Linda read her poem ...
Mum’s trolley trip
To the big food shop
Made our Pancake Day
A colossal flop!
The egg box open,
It came as a blow:
Half a dozen dragon eggs
Sat neat in two rows.
Hungry for pancake,
I heard a tap tap;
Suddenly six dragons
Sat curled in my lap.
I fed them the finest,
With love I smothered,
Kept them all cosy
In the airing cupboard.
But these wild dragons
I sure couldn’t tame,
So I waved goodbye
To dragon pet fame.
When they finally flew,
They left without thanks -
Just half a dozen holes
Burnt in my best underpants!
