Spuds
Boiled and tumbled
Fried and mashed
Sliced and diced
Peeled and hashed
Roast and frittered
Wedged and whipped
Buttered, battered
Flipped and chipped …
Spuds can also make the grade
after they have been sautéed.
But they’re not fully up to par
unless one has them dauphinois.
Fried and mashed
Sliced and diced
Peeled and hashed
Roast and frittered
Wedged and whipped
Buttered, battered
Flipped and chipped …
Spuds can also make the grade
after they have been sautéed.
But they’re not fully up to par
unless one has them dauphinois.

Graham Seal
Once upon a time Graham Seal won the high school poetry prize – probably because he had more poems in the school magazine than anyone else. Since then he’s continued writing books, articles, songs and poems, many published, many yet to be.
