Some Sums

Some sums are quite something
like the ones for sizing the sun
some sums start so very small
like two from three is one
some sums are important
like the safety of a speed
but some things can’t be reckoned
like how many hugs we need.

Melinda Szymanik

Melinda is an award-winning New Zealand author of picture books, short stories and novels for children and young adults. She also writes poetry for adults and children, and regularly teaches creative writing.
