Soaring Swings

The recess bell has sung its tune.
We’re off to play until it’s noon.
Some kids spread out exploring things,
But Dan and I find two free swings.

At first, we’re slow, so glad we’re freed.
Then we pump our legs to pick up speed.
So now we’re rocking faster still.
We holler for it’s quite a thrill!

And just as we can climb no more,
We take a leap and start to soar.
For in those moments gliding down,
We fly like birds that flit around!
