The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Sing

When the world’s a bit tattered and quiet and sad
And when problems are all people see
Let your hopes flush your lungs and give strength to your voice
And then sing of the way things can be

Sing of skies and of seas that are teeming with life
Sing of woods dressed in growing green gowns
Sing of dreams and ideas in new music keys
Sing of hands that lift up, not push down
Sing of thoughts that spark plans that spark change for the world
Sing of oaks that can grow from a twig
Sing of food for all baskets and hope for all souls
Sing of brains not afraid to think big

Fill the air with your song, feel the wind in your sails
Take the chances the future will bring
On the road to tomorrow, let loose your true tune
For the world needs the song that you sing
