Silver Birch
Elegant,
magical,
slender and forgiving
guardian of the playing field.
Look-out post
or fairy den.
Branch-cling,
swing.
Curator of huddles,
spiller of secrets,
and troubles
shared.
Tambourine leaves
tickle the fence,
a shivering bridge
between here and out there.
Mission control
or crow’s nest perch.
Meet me at the silver birch.
magical,
slender and forgiving
guardian of the playing field.
Look-out post
or fairy den.
Branch-cling,
swing.
Curator of huddles,
spiller of secrets,
and troubles
shared.
Tambourine leaves
tickle the fence,
a shivering bridge
between here and out there.
Mission control
or crow’s nest perch.
Meet me at the silver birch.
