Silent Night, Bumpy Ride
Once,
I was a conifer –
a tall, dark green giant,
waving hello to the blue sky.
Then,
a noisy, bright yellow truck arrived.
A growling saw sang a quick, sharp tune.
I tumbled down and rode on a bumpy highway.
Next,
I was wrapped up in fuzzy string and shiny balls,
a crown of tinsel on my head.
Twinkle! I held magic for everyone.
Now,
I don’t miss the cold, wet forest floor.
Now,
I’m a sparkling tower in a warm house.
Now,
I’m waving hello to the joyful faces.
