Selfies

We look goofy and fun
As we pose for a shot,
But a photo can’t show what our friendship has brought.

We have someone to hang with
And tell secrets to.
We do nothing together when there’s nothing to do.

When I’m feeling upset
I know they’ll be there.
They’ll let me cry, hug it out, show that they care.

When one of our trio
Strives for a goal,
The rest encourage, celebrate, sometimes console.

We share everything.
Our friendship is deep.
I know that these two are friends I will keep.

We like to take selfies -
My best friends and me -
But the best part of us, a camera can’t see!

About the Writer

Theresa Gaughan

Theresa is a third-grade teacher living in Knoxville, Tennessee. She is an avid reader and has a very extensive collection of children's books. The first poem she ever shared with others was written in fourth-grade. It was titled, I Have to Pay Attention. Her teacher asked her to make it into a poster that she later displayed in the hallway. Ms. Gaughan has no memory of the lesson that she missed while writing the poem.
