The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Selfie

Mirror, mirror, selfie stick
Press the button, hear the click
Choose a filter, life’s a trick
My face for all to see

Comment once, comment twice
Something horrid, something nice
My life on show but at what price?
Nothing comes for free

Read the words, how hard they hit
Will read them all again for kicks
Sinking down into my pit
Wish they’d leave me be

Mirror, mirror, say what’s what
Make me glad for what I’ve got
Stop wishing for what I am not
Be thankful that I’m me
