Reverence for the Siren
I was told you’re a deadly siren
that lives beneath the sea
with a voice to make sailors weep
as they’re lured to eternal sleep
I was told lies and deceit
I see no monstrous villain
no claws or bladed teeth
no scales or webbed feet
I see a maiden
who has chosen
a life of her own
not with malice
but to embrace
her inner strength
and swim a journey
of self-discovery
that lives beneath the sea
with a voice to make sailors weep
as they’re lured to eternal sleep
I was told lies and deceit
I see no monstrous villain
no claws or bladed teeth
no scales or webbed feet
I see a maiden
who has chosen
a life of her own
not with malice
but to embrace
her inner strength
and swim a journey
of self-discovery
