The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Petrichor

Rain seeps into soil,
puddles on pavement.
It courses down tree limbs,
turns trickles to streams.
Boots splash.
Worms squirm.
Squirrel lifts her
bushy umbrella
while we raise our faces,
breathing in the musty scent,
the heady perfume of
PETRICHOR.
