Nursery Beasts

We all know a kitten grows up to be a cat
Few are aware the young oyster is a spat
Calves belong to momma aardvarks and to killer whales
Frogs and toads are polliwogs while they sport their tails
Platypus’s bitty bundle is what she calls a puggle
Kangaroo’s joey perches in a pouch for his snuggle
Did you know a puffling is a precious infant puffin?
Of course, the wee elver is Mother eel’s little muffin
Prickly porcupine parents welcome porcupettes
Armored armadillo pups always come in sets
Eyas huddle together in the family falcon nest
Mommy louse will never tell which nit she loves the best
