The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Nothing!

Listen to Kathryn read her poem ...
I’ve nothing to write
and nothing to say
’cause nothing has happened
tonight or today.
Nothing is wrong –
nothing’s left to forgive.
Take nothing from me –
I’ve nothing to give.
Nothing is planned
and nothing is new,
so nothing is what
I am going to do.

About the Writer

Kathryn Apel

Kathryn is a born-and-bred farm girl who’s scared of cows. She lives among the gum trees, kangaroos and cattle on an Australian grazing property. Kathryn is the author of multiple verse novels and rhyming picture books, including ‘The Bird in the Herd’. She’s perhaps best known for her shape poem, ‘Big Blue Whale’. Kat loves pumping poetry because she can flex her muscles across genres, to bend (and break) writing rules. Find Kat (and the ‘Big Blue Whale’) at katswhiskers.wordpress.com
