The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Noah Noodle

Hi, I’m Noah Noodle
And I’ll help you learn to swim.
I helped Chandra in the pool over there
and I happily helped Tim.

But there’s something I want to ask you
and I’m sure you’ll work out why -
take me out of the pool when we’ve finished
and help me to get dry.

It’s a bit tricky on my own
and besides I need a rest.
I get tired after all that splashing
so help me look my best.

I have another thing to ask now
and it might seem odd to say
but I’d like you to consider it -
it would really make my day.

You probably think I’m unimportant -
just a length of bright-coloured foam
but I’m wet and I’m also lonely
so please could you take me home?
