Native Tongue
Grandma gave me a box of words
And told me that each one was magic
Every phrase a strand in a braided rope
That stretched across millennia
Learn these words well, she said
And be tied to the voices of long ago
Learn these words well, she said
And our voices will be twined together
Learn these words well, she said
And they will carry us into the future
And told me that each one was magic
Every phrase a strand in a braided rope
That stretched across millennia
Learn these words well, she said
And be tied to the voices of long ago
Learn these words well, she said
And our voices will be twined together
Learn these words well, she said
And they will carry us into the future
