My Buddy Steve
My buddy Steve ate too much bread.
‘If you eat much more bread,’ I said,
‘you’ll turn into a slice of bread.’
‘No I won’t!’ my buddy said.
But Steve was wrong and I was right.
It really was a shocking sight
to see Steve turn – in broad daylight –
into a slice of Mighty White!
‘Sorry, mate,’ I said to Steve.
‘You’ve been a loyal friend to me.
But hunger trumps your loyalty.’
And then I ate him for my tea.
