My Best Friend is a Mermaid
My best friend is a mermaid
We met on holiday
We chatted in the shallows
We swam around the bay
I learnt of rocks and shellfish
She tried my fizzy drink
She taught me that sea-people
Aren't as different as you'd think
I showed her all my wiggly toes
She flashed her shiny scales
We sang sea shanties side by side
We told each other tales
She combed my hair with coral
I tied hers in a bow
We made friendship rings from seaweed
But then she had to go
She said the sea was calling
As the wind whipped up a cry
We hugged and pinky-promised that
We'd stay friends 'til we die
My best friend is a mermaid
We met on holiday
The sea brought her to visit
And then took her away
We met on holiday
We chatted in the shallows
We swam around the bay
I learnt of rocks and shellfish
She tried my fizzy drink
She taught me that sea-people
Aren't as different as you'd think
I showed her all my wiggly toes
She flashed her shiny scales
We sang sea shanties side by side
We told each other tales
She combed my hair with coral
I tied hers in a bow
We made friendship rings from seaweed
But then she had to go
She said the sea was calling
As the wind whipped up a cry
We hugged and pinky-promised that
We'd stay friends 'til we die
My best friend is a mermaid
We met on holiday
The sea brought her to visit
And then took her away
