Mum Watched Me Like A Hawk

Mum said she was watching me like a hawk -
“What does that look like exactly?” I thought.
She didn’t hang above me in the air…

But she did give me a piercing stare!

And she didn’t give out a mighty screech
While perched upon the kitchen seat
And she didn’t fly up into the skies…

But she did look with stony eyes!

She didn’t give a flutter of her wings
Or any other bird-ish things…

But, when I swiped a piece of cake
That took her all day long to make…

Her eyes narrowed, her anger, roused
Down she swooped,
And on me she
POUNCED!
