Mince Pies

The ‘fact’ that Santa likes mince pies is
fake news. In fact, he despises
them; he hates their too-sweet filling,
will not eat them, is unwilling.
So he tips them in his sack
and takes the whole lot with him back
to Mrs Santa and the elves
who, happily, will stuff themselves
on Santa’s reject pastry treats.
He’d rather you just left him sweets!

Fi Calvert

She had two poems commended in the YorkMix Poems for Children Competition 2021 and has had a poem about a tardigrade published in The Caterpillar.
