Mervyn the Magician

Here is Colin's poem ...
Old Mervyn the Magician,
Who dwelt not far from Wells
And lived nine hundred years ago
Was famed for casting spells.
(Was famed for making smells!)

Inside his dingy dungeon

He kept an oaken box
With stuff inside so he could make
Gold nuggets from old rocks.
(The whiff of cheesy socks!)

And then from lots of bottles
He’d mix himself a drink,
And when he’d gone and swallowed it,
He’d turn a shade of pink.
(His breath would really stink!)

Then Mervyn the Magician,
Would wave his magic wand
And there appeared a dragon from
The Back of the Beyond.
(A really smelly pond!)

And then the two together
Along the streets would go,
And all the knaves would run away
Who feared the duo so.
(Who sniffed their bad B.O.!)

Old Mervyn and his dragon,
Their lives were sweet and long,
And people still remember them,
In Poetry and Song.
(‘Cos of their potent pong!)
