Merry-Go-Round
Acting as if we’re going off somewhere,
we jump a horse mid-gallop,
catch the stirrups, ride astride
our favorite fantasy mare.
A wave of children and horses sail—
a sea of calliope riders
ready to glide our limbs with forever
flying mane and tail.
Happily Hannah is prancing up.
Merrily Margaux is sauntering down:
Jonathan’s joyfully jouncing along;
Cantering Jessica can never catch up.
All of us galloping,
trotting,
lolloping—
Bye.
we jump a horse mid-gallop,
catch the stirrups, ride astride
our favorite fantasy mare.
A wave of children and horses sail—
a sea of calliope riders
ready to glide our limbs with forever
flying mane and tail.
Happily Hannah is prancing up.
Merrily Margaux is sauntering down:
Jonathan’s joyfully jouncing along;
Cantering Jessica can never catch up.
All of us galloping,
trotting,
lolloping—
Bye.
