Mer-maid

Our Mum got tired of cleaning
And hired a maid for our house
She turned up in shimmering sequins
I thought I saw shells through her blouse
She started to work on the bathroom
And when she was ‘sposed to be mopping
I heard the tap running and then a loud splash
When we found her the whole place was sopping
She’d filled up our bathtub to brimming
And splashed all the water about
No mopping or wiping or vacuuming done
Our poor mum looked ready to shout
It soon became clear that this creature
Was not of the housekeeping trade
We knew there was something quite fishy
Turns out Mum had hired a MER-maid
