Love Cats

Yawn into a perfect day, satisfied
stretching out into the future
then curl back to sleep again
for a little while at least.

Only rise when I need to eat
instantly steady on my feet
always eat the best there is to offer
watching birds outside tweet.

Just so happy to be alive, comfortable
in my own fur, the day is a masterpiece
to compose elegantly as we prepare
to dance our chores away, delighted.

Eventually leave the house wandering
feel sensations with every move, soak up
the sunshine, notice every change in the air
autumn leaves or spring blossom fair.

Days are there to be embraced as cats do
in the moment so splendidly brilliant
then change pose and poise gracefully
graciously, stylishly with feeling.

Everyone is joyful to be around, luxuriate
in my company, disappointed when
I leave, leave them always wanting more
the cat’s privilege for days and paws.

Life is simple and joyful, nuzzling
and playing, celebrating every bewitching
moment, always aware of the amazing,
the joy of life embraced in every purr.

Return home and eat, drink and eat again
tired on my feet, I curl up in loving arms
dreaming of adventures and desert sands
yawn into a perfect sleep, content.
