Lost at Sea
Only when we saw your twin
Floating in the shallow waves
And rescued him, reeling him in
Did we notice you were gone,
For you, we were too late to save.
Oh sock, lost sock, we miss you so,
But, ignoring our imploring,
You have gone off exploring,
Hanging out on a foot can be so boring
So, riding the roaring waves
You've gone off soaring
Flowing freely far off with the fish.
Futilely we searched the shallows
Hunting for your foot-like form
Pouncing on unlikely shadows
But sadly paddled there in vain.
Your soggy twin was all forlorn.
Oh sock, lost sock, we miss you so,
But, ignoring our imploring,
You have gone off exploring,
Hanging out on a foot can be so boring
So, riding the roaring waves
You've gone off soaring
Flowing freely far off with the fish.
We retraced our steps the way we came
Scorching our feet on burning sand
But, though we looked, it was a shame
For we searched and searched with all our might
But you were nowhere to be found.
Oh sock, lost sock, we miss you so,
But, ignoring our imploring,
You have gone off exploring,
Hanging out on a foot can be so boring
So, riding the roaring waves
You've gone off soaring
Flowing freely far off with the fish.
We brought your twin back home again
Now he is carefully washed and dried
But at the sight of him your owner cried
Bereft, without your presence too.
Did your twin hope to follow you?
Did he fall in the water or had he dived?
Does he long for adventures, of which he's deprived?
Oh sock, lost sock, we miss you so,
But, ignoring our imploring,
You have gone off exploring,
Hanging out on a foot can be so boring
So, riding the roaring waves
You've gone off soaring
Flowing freely far off with the fish… floating free… alone… at sea…
Floating in the shallow waves
And rescued him, reeling him in
Did we notice you were gone,
For you, we were too late to save.
Oh sock, lost sock, we miss you so,
But, ignoring our imploring,
You have gone off exploring,
Hanging out on a foot can be so boring
So, riding the roaring waves
You've gone off soaring
Flowing freely far off with the fish.
Futilely we searched the shallows
Hunting for your foot-like form
Pouncing on unlikely shadows

Your soggy twin was all forlorn.
Oh sock, lost sock, we miss you so,

Flowing freely far off with the fish… floating free… alone… at sea…
