Larkin
There is this statue
Of a man in a hurry
At Hull Interchange
Looks like he’s heading into town
A man with glasses
And a suit
Like they wore
In the olden days
People say he was a poet
One of Hull’s finest
One of England’s finest even
But he never wrote for children
Until the statue comes alive
In a book you may read one day
This poem is all that you have
To read about him
Of a man in a hurry
At Hull Interchange
Looks like he’s heading into town
A man with glasses
And a suit
Like they wore
In the olden days
People say he was a poet
One of Hull’s finest
One of England’s finest even
But he never wrote for children
Until the statue comes alive
In a book you may read one day
This poem is all that you have
To read about him
