The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

Jellyfish Wish

If I could be an animal,
whatever I wish to be,
I would be a jellyfish,
graceful ballerina of the sea,
swimming, swirling,
tentacles twirling,
floating about carefree.

I would go where
the water takes me,
letting the current
be my guide,
gliding through the shallows,
drifting with the tide.

My tutu blooming around me,
a glimmer of lavender,
pink and blue,
I would shimmer across the
ocean stage,
pirouetting the whole day through.
