It Never Snows in Florida

It never snows in Florida –
no ice, or slush, or sleet.
We walk around with flip-flops on
under our bare feet.

We cannot build a snowman
but we get a lot of rain.
We splash around in puddles
to the “Jingle Bells” refrain.

It’s 62 degrees outside
so let’s go to the park.
We’ll go in for hot cocoa
when it starts getting dark.

Wintertime is full of fun –
don’t need a cold snowball.
It never snows in Florida
but we don’t mind at all!

Theresa Gaughan

Theresa is a third-grade teacher living in Knoxville, Tennessee. She is an avid reader and has a very extensive collection of children's books.
