Islands

Islands big and islands small, islands narrow, islands wide.
Islands with no trees or sand, islands covered at high tide.

Islands you can reach on foot, by train or car, by plane or boat.
Islands only birds explore because they’re small or so remote.

Holy Islands. One in Wales, one in England - two to spot.
Church and Priest, St Mary’s, too. Papa’s there, but Mama’s not.

East and West and Middle Mouse, Boa, Puffin and Seal’s Rock.
No Bacon, but there’s Eigg to see. And Muck and Foulness (maybe not).

Isle of Ewe, though none of Me. Isle of May, though not of Might.
Sheep and Horse and Lamb and Calve. (For Cowes, look on the Isle of Wight.)

Agnes, Martin, Ailsa Craig, Iona, Rona, Lewis, Denny.
Island hop. Ahoy, a Hoy! Now, where to go? There are so many.

Isle of Skye? That sounds inviting. Steep or Thorney? No! Fair Isle?
Which one shall I visit first? I’ll Mull it over for a while.
