Insect Day
Today my school has Insect Day!
Us kids were told to stay away.
The creepy-crawlies need a turn;
They've all got special things to learn...
The worker ants are taught the skills
for building strong and sturdy hills.
They learn to forage food to eat,
and how to keep their ant-nest neat.
The bees all take a honey test,
to see whose nectar is the best,
and then they’re taught to pollinate,
to keep our flowers looking great.
Today my school has Insect Day!
Us kids were told to stay away.
The creepy-crawlies need a turn;
They've all got special things to learn...
The spiders study how to spin
and stretch their silk all long and thin.
They may not be our most-loved guests,
but spiders do remove the pests.
The earthworms learn to chomp and churn,
to give the ground a twist and turn.
They help prepare the soil for roots,
so, plants can start to sprout their shoots.
Today my school has Insect Day!
Us kids were told to stay away.
The creepy-crawlies need a turn;
They've all got special things to learn...
In maths, the ladybirds count spots,
and practice doing dot-to-dots.
This helps them calculate and catch
the aphids from the veggie patch.
My school is full of bugs and things
with lots of legs and flapping wings.
While I have stayed at home to play.
I LOVE it when it’s
