The Dirigible Balloon
Poetry for Children

I don’t want to March

I don’t want to March.
I don’t want to Spring.

It’s too cold, I’m staying in -
they say it might snow tomorrow.
The wind is shrieking at the garden
flinging the plant pots around,
Sad daffodils are waving for help.
The tarp on the garden chairs
is haunting us aggressively.
The sun is pretending to be warm
but the air knows the truth.

No Marching or Springing,
not just yet.

Wait a few weeks
And then I May.
