Holiday Crush
How much do I love you?
I would die if you knew –
if I could just hold your rabbit
for a moment or two,
enough to smell the hay that means you.
How much do I love you?
Dream wild or dream true . . .
How much do I love you?
And what if you knew?
Is it me you asked to fish in the morning,
Is it me, or my brother who
said I could come and he would come too?
How much do I love you?
Is my daydream come true?
How much do I love you?
(Are we three, four or two?)
Me the silly girl while the hero is you,
am I the slip-shadow following through?
Could I ever be clever to catch what you threw?
How much do I love you?
For the moment – I do.
