Helicopters
Look up! What do you see?
Spinning, falling, from the tree
Tumbling, waiting to be caught
Small squadrons of aeronauts.
Circling like tiny choppers
On to leaves, rust and copper
No air traffic control
For take-off and landing goals
Wings spin round, make me dizzy
Copter blades fizzy, busy
But they’re silent when they drop
Spiral, tumble, not a plop.
After summer filled with sun
Water fights, ice lolly fun
Now our mighty sycamore’s
Shedding seeds and her spores
Floating past in a whirl
Down, down and down they twirl.
Spinning, falling, from the tree
Tumbling, waiting to be caught
Small squadrons of aeronauts.
Circling like tiny choppers
On to leaves, rust and copper
No air traffic control
For take-off and landing goals
Wings spin round, make me dizzy
Copter blades fizzy, busy
But they’re silent when they drop
Spiral, tumble, not a plop.
After summer filled with sun
Water fights, ice lolly fun
Now our mighty sycamore’s
Shedding seeds and her spores
Floating past in a whirl
Down, down and down they twirl.
