Hanna is Going Home
Hanna’s not going to High School;
she’s flying back home to Ukraine.
Her mum tells my mum that they cannot
go on in that one single room.
Mum asks her if Kyiv is safe now
It isn’t, she says but it’s home.
She says they’ll get Hanna a puppy;
and soon they’ll be boarding the plane.
Hanna misses her dad and her grandma.
Will I ever see her again?
I’ll miss my best friend in Year 7.
No Hanna? It won’t be the same.
she’s flying back home to Ukraine.
Her mum tells my mum that they cannot
go on in that one single room.
Mum asks her if Kyiv is safe now
It isn’t, she says but it’s home.
She says they’ll get Hanna a puppy;
and soon they’ll be boarding the plane.
Hanna misses her dad and her grandma.
Will I ever see her again?
I’ll miss my best friend in Year 7.
No Hanna? It won’t be the same.
